Before You Hire

Can you provide a Worksafe clearance letter?

Yes, MPB is in good standing and we ensure that all trades who work on our project sites have their own WorkSafe coverage or are covered under our coverage.

Do I pay for the design work?

Typically, our design work as well as making application to the City for a permit if required or other project-related costs are included in our quotation and not billed separately

How long will the project take?

This depends on the project itself.

A bathroom renovation can be completed in 3 weeks or less while a kitchen may take 4-5 weeks with more extensive ones taking longer.

A complete house make-over or a major addition could take 8-12 weeks.

On all projects we strive to minimize the time frame.

Is your price firm or are there extras?

For most residential projects we offer a “turn-key” fixed-price contract which includes allowances for items requiring your personal selection.

Other projects are best suited for cost plus pricing.

What are your payment terms?

Payment terms depend on the project itself.

Typically there is a payment on acceptance of the contract because that is when we start working on your behalf.

There is another payment on start date with weekly progress payments with a 10% payment upon completion.

Payments on smaller projects may differ with payments on acceptance and finish for example.

What is the difference between an estimate and a quotation?

An estimate is a guide to a renovations most likely price range.

In most cases, this estimate is pretty accurate.

A quotation on the other hand spells out the exact price and the details or qualifiers involved.

Working With Us

What insurance coverage do you have?

We have $5,000,00 in liability coverage.

What subcontractors do you use?

We have a tried-and-true group of subcontractors that meet our high standards and pledge to meet our time lines. We do not go looking for trades for each project but rather they move to each new job site as we need their particular skills.

What suppliers do you use?

We have an established network of suppliers who have proven to supply quality products at competitive prices and who meet our required time lines.

Examples are Splashes (Andrew Sheret), The Ensuite (Emco), Olympia Tile, Burritt Brothers and Apex Granite.

Who is responsible for the day-to-day job site activity?

We have a project supervisor who is responsible for all projects, and reporting to him are four experienced “hands-on” working supervisors that work with our other employees and subtrades.

Will you be taking out a permit?

We apply for permits on your behalf as required but not all projects require a permit.

A kitchen or bathroom renovation for example with no structural changes is a remodel and does not require a permit but may involve our electrician or plumber applying for a permit for their work.
